Clincal Counsellor

Bio

My name is Emma Lujan, and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I have worked within the mental healthcare field for the last 5 years. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and graduated with my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Victoria and my master’s degree in clinical counselling from City University Seattle.

I operate from a trauma-informed harm reduction lens. I genuinely meet each person where they are at, and I strive to create a safe space for people to feel comfortable expressing their authentic selves.

My experience working with the LGBTQ2S+ community and those struggling with substance use is one that is deeply personal to me. Being a queer individual and someone with lived experience with addiction and mental illness, assists in my ability to empathize with each client’s respective journey. I am continuously humbled and inspired by the resilience of the clients I meet and the nuanced challenges these populations encounter. In my time away from my therapeutic practice, I am a very active outdoor explorer, photographer, and animal lover. I have a Golden Retriever, Jade, who I trained to be a registered therapeutic service animal. Additionally, I am an avid reader and writer and am in the process of publishing my first book.

I value connecting with my spiritual side in the vast natural landscape of Vancouver Island. The ocean and mountains remind me to remain grounded, curious, and open-minded in my daily life and therapeutic practice.
